The oddest idea ever for custom weapon.
« on: August 10, 2013, 03:24:59 AM »
Hey guys, how would you feel if you could define a custom weapon via hammer or mapadd via KeyValues? It seems very odd, but it's a idea I thought of when I was fixing mapadd. Of course, you can keep the weapon_*.txt system, but I might find it nice for individual maps.

There would be a special custom weapon, you would directly put in values to make the gun instead of a weapon custom script.

IE for mapadd to make this would be

Code: [Select]
               "weapon_custom_mapadd"
                {
                        "x" "-27.571594"
                        "y" "-123.720215"
                        "z"     "-415.968750"
                        "roll"  "0"
                        "yaw"   "0"
                        "pitch" "0"
                        "KeyValues"
                        {
"ReplaceName" "weapon_ak47" //Changes it from weapon_custom_mapadd to weapon_ak47
"PrimaryFireRate" "0.7"
"PrimaryDamage" "5"
"IronsightPos" "20.0 30.0 20.0"
//Other stuff
                        }
                }

The use for this would be... Temporary stuff like a holdable item for just that map.

Sounds kinda nice for one-time-weapons, that only should appear on one map.

The key values should stay the same throughout it's existence when across maps, so it should work. I could also make it so that the weapon can be changed on the fly via map inputs.
