The biggest thing about this that I'm concerned about is crash issues. I have a ton of my own "deathmatch" maps, but one time or another, the game will eventually crash. If you could fix that somehow, this would be astounding, not saying it isn't already.  ;)

Crashes, like many aspects of the modification, are random as well. Sometimes I can play-test a session for hours without crashing. Other times, there may be one or two crashes. It all depends on the map, player limit and various other settings like the ragdoll limit for example. Overall it is quite stable at the moment and I am still optimising code and settings to decrease crashes.

SMOD will never die for me, if needed I will download a pirated version oh HL2 wich uses the older Source Engine and fils to play SMOD.

yeah but it get's a little complicated I think for css sci fi smod since css is needed for that but i think we can't discuss that further here hehe.

Just copy Cs:s materials out of the .GCFs/.VPKs

The modification is not dead, I have just been busy with the optimisation of the code and making more maps compatible. I do not use steam and never will so I am not running into new issues from updates. However, I am now worrying about the accessibility of the modification because of these updates. SMOD: Deathmatch is interdependent on Half life 2 Deathmatch so users of SMOD and SMOD: Deathmatch will have to extract/find the resources of Half Life 2 Deathmatch so that they can play, which may not be an appealing option to them.

glad you're still working at it I thought you've move to some other interest or whatever.

Yeah non steam are better but kinda tricky to set up but got mine working.

@CL....hehe yeah it's easy now I've done it. Some few bugs though like in game txt not appearing properly and one map so far just quits to game menu.

why can't WE continue the work on this mod? since the original owner CLEARLY doesn't want to do anything, we can just continue developing this. i see it has a lot of potential, it would be a big waste to let this mod go

But for that he would need to upload his files, also in that case I guess too many cooks would ruin the soup. I would just wait.
