Release date - Sept. 1, 2013

For those of you who don't know, this project was started began on the SMOD engine by forum member mxthe (SMOD: Troopers creator). He has since expanded it into a full blown mod and moved away from the SMOD engine. However he has said that Underhell will be customizable to some extent, although not exactly like SMOD.

SMOD: CryLife receives 1.5.9 update

Pepsifan04 has released an update for SMOD: CryLife. This patch is mostly a bugfix and I will post up the changelog here. Remember that since this is a patch, you need to have version 1.5.8 installed and simply extract this over the top. Make sure to also check out the CryLife board on our forums and drop some feedback on the latest update.

SMMOD gets update #9

SirMasters has had his nose to the grindstone and has just pumped out a BIG update for SMMOD. This project is really starting to take shape. Please drop by the SMMOD forum and leave some feedback or bug reports. All the necessary links and changelog will be posted below.

Project Goldenarms announced

I am working on a new project to totally redo the HL2 campaign for SMOD. Please check it out. I'm hoping for this to be like nothing anyone has seen before in SMOD. The initial idea for the project is to make it as modular as possible so that players and developers can drop it into their own SMOD version with little or no fuss and play. However, I may be collaborating with several others so there is no telling what the project might wind up looking like.

For now here are the planned features:

-    Re-imagined mapadds for the HL2 campaign. These are being made from scratch.
-    Mapadds built with Mapadd Pseudo-Randomization. 100's of events chosen at random. True re-playability.
-    Custom voice overs. Don't expect anything amazing (SMOD is limited in this area) but the template will be there for others to expand upon.
-    Objective system, for mission based gameplay integrated into the campaign.
-    New factions and new characters (maybe)
-    Minibosses :O
-    More to come...

Hey folks, just a little news update, sorry things have been kinda quiet around here...

Valve Unleashes Hurricane SteamPipe

Yes, yes, it has finally happened. Valve has gone and added Half Life 2 to the growing list of source games converted to SteamPipe. An unfortunate side effect of this is that it totally kills SMOD and many other mods made on the old SDK. While this isn't the first setback to SMOD recently (including the_author disappearing around the time of the Fukushima earthquake and the Valve May 2010 update to Half Life 2) this is certain to make SMOD even less accessable to new players.

Luckily we had plenty of advanced warning about this update and if you backed up the old HL2 .gcf files you should be good. Wait, whats that, you forgot to back up the files? Well, never fear, our crew was on the case was on the case from the start and OneManShow has compiled a guide on how to get SMOD back working and future proof your other games including CS:S, HL2DM, and others.

SirMasters Makes His SMOD Re-make Official

Lets move on to some good news, forum member sirmasters has made it official that he is working on re-creating many of the features of SMOD on the latest Source SDK! The mod is currently in development and he now his his own forum on our website where you can download the latest version, get info, and even download the source code!

He first made a mention of this project back in December of 2012, when he released a bullet-time video demo. Since then things had been relatively quiet but now there is a new build online for you to check out and some progress updates.

Remember when several thousand websites (including ours!) went dark in protest of the US internet regulation bills SOPA and PIPA? Well the Gov't is already moving again to regulate the internet and keep it 'safe' from 'cyber-threats' with the new CISPA regulation.

Here is the problem:

* It lets the government spy on you without a warrant. (read more)
* It makes it so you canít even find out about it after the fact. (read more)
* It makes it so companies canít be sued when they do illegal things with your data. (read more)
* It allows corporations to cyber-attack each other and individuals outside of the law. (read more)
* It makes every privacy policy on the web a moot point, and violates the 4th amendment. (read more)
