info about smod3:

I do have a few questions though:

-mapadd and custom weapons compatable with FIREFIGHT RELOADED.

I've got no problems with the mapadd code, but I hope you plan on developing the custom weapon system further in SMOD3, as FIREFIGHT RELOADED's is kinda barebones and has lots of room for improvement.

-will support hl2, ep1, and ep2.

Will we have to mess around with the mounting order so each game can work correctly (no missing animations, improper models, etc), or does this mean that my dream of a unified, non-stop HL2-EP1-EP2 campaign can be made a reality? :o

Original SMOD has many cool stuff expect ironsights, customs weapons and mappad, interesting your skills are enough to recreate all fancy weapons like strider cannon, flamethrower with it fire effects, that chain lighting attack from golden crowbar, proper gore with ragdolls gibs and ability to gib dead corpses too, not only alive NPCs, that Combine Ace with ability to jump around map, and remake these cool explosion and impact effects instead of these ugly ascetic effects from vanilla Half-Life 2?

Sadly that author of original SMOD didn't upload its source code.

first thing i noticed is, that the kick does an instant hit + sound and not a bit delayed, but keep it up (http://www.bsnooch.com/forums/Smileys/bsnooch/repup.png)

Glad you got the kick working  :). But the kick needs some range instead of having it point blank. Im pretty sure the kick had a little bit more range

I am hoping that this will fix the bugs that Valve did to half-life 2 after porting it to the Orange Box. (Vorts not giving armor in canals, Zombies Moan loop being interrupted, etc)

the particles i used were directly taken from SMOD2 and then modified to look more bloody and gruesome.

Hope this will support infinite number of custom weapons hehe.
THe mod add ...that feature in smod where you can play an entire hl2 mod using smod weapons and stuff...that would be sweet like the possibility of playing BMS using smod3 weaponry.

No, you are correct. Black Mesa has its own code base that would be completely incompatible with any other mod. You'd probably be able to load the maps (the mod version at least - the retail version won't be compatible period), but the entities, NPCs, etc unique to Black Mesa won't be present.

That said, the mod is being built on the 2013 branch of Source, so we won't be limited to using pre-orange box maps anymore at least.

I think as far as gore goes you're better off using generic gibs like in SMOD1/2. Model specific will require a lot of time to do, and you won't account for custom models/replacements. To be honest it also looks lame, as if the limbs were carefully cut off. The version you currently have is also missing a lot of particle and sound effects from SMOD.

Overall this looks promising but obviously requires more work. Good luck.
