MAPADD DOCUMENTATION!

Welcome to the mapadd documentation...this section is a work in progress! Lets get started...

What is Mapadd

By using a simple text file we can completely transform any map by adding/removing/modifying enemies, weapons, events, companions, and so much more. It can be as simple as adding in more ammo or as complex as making combine rappel from helicopters! With the mapadd system we can literally change the entire gameplay of a map, without ever editing the map itself! This was one of my favorite features of SMOD, and now it has found its way into SMMOD.

So, how similar is the SMMOD mapadd structure to SMOD's system?? Well its pretty close, but not exact. It may be worth while to check out some of the excellent and very thorough documentation of the SMOD system, both on BSNOOCH.COM and the Unofficial SMOD Wiki before we get started.

To make a addon, make a folder for your "addons/" (name it related to your addon please... <_>). Please create the addon in this format to prevent any issues.

For instance, for a AK47 addon made by toiletspam would look like this:

To make the addon a VPK file, just drag the folder onto the "makeaddon.bat" file and it will generate the VPK within seconds. You may dispose of the folder or keep it as a backup. You may then distribute the VPK in anyway you wish.

Suggested addontypes for addon VPKs and foldiers.

weapon - For custom weapons
npc - Custom NPCS.
mapadd - For mapadd files
map - For single levels made just for SMMOD
content - Models, textures, maps, and sounds that are custom or the such. Mainly
campaign - group of maps and mapadds connected together.
mod - For mods that use SMMOD as a base for their mods. I will add a special L4D style mod selection system later...
skin - Replaces models, textures, sounds, ETC.
other - ._. fixes and other stuff.
