Zombie Scripts
« on: August 28, 2013, 05:46:31 AM »
Yeah, I've been having problems with the zombie scripts, the running zombies to be precise.

Wherever I look, I can't find the files - I edited every single script/cfg file containing the word "zombie", but nothing happens, the NPC does not suffer any changes, except melee hit.

Could someone please tell me where I can find these files so I can edit them?

Care to clarify? what exactly are you trying to change about them? May help us give a better answer.

I'm trying to edit their health. Nothing else, just a simple script (or so I thought).

Nope, it only affects the normal ones.

skill.cfg

Line 66 & 67

sk_zombie2_dmg "45"
sk_zombie2_health "25"

also which map are you testing on? I know in Outbreak I messed with some settings in the city maps via mapadd.

Woah, thanks a lot, however I still can't edit the health of the fast zombies (sorry for not mentioning it earlier). I did what you said, poked around, but nothing seems to happen. Again, sorry...

The maps I tested it out on were Ravenholm and the part in the city that's right after Nova Prospekt and Doctor Kleiner's place.

IF you're wondering why the fast zombies health values are weird then CounterLife is correct

I remember the fast zombies going down far too easily so I removed the head hitbox in the model's qc.  If I remember correctly it was to reduce the damage multiplier on them so they could stand a chance of reaching you before dying.

If you remove the fast zombie model files it will revert to the default hl2 fast zombie and you'll probably see the changes you're making work better or how they are supposed to rather.

Something worth noting is I also controlled damage values in the qc file by adding attack events in sequence of each other which makes the zombie2 melee do 2x damage on average per hit..and all through model file.  if you decompile one of them you'd see what I'm talking about it's pretty cool
