I have a problem with installing SMOD redux. I put it inside SMOD standalone root folder, i modified addcontensts, and gameinfo. It launches normally, displays SMOD redux options in main menu, and looks ok. However, when I click any of the options, it displays a long list of missing scenes. I tried loading the first chapter, and everything was fine, except for the fact, that npc's didn't talk and move. Can somebody tell me what am I doing wrong?

Could be a problem with SMOD now using Orange Box for all we know.

So it turns out that SMOD redux is unplayable?

So it turns out all SMOD's are unplayable. I don't know. Didn't had this issue with vanilla SMOD, the one provided with standalone. maybe you can try to replace the scenes folder with the one in vanilla smod standalone?

So it turns out that you don't have "scene" files...
Copy them over from HL2 (inside standalone) to smod redux folder or make smod redux load mising files trough gameinfo.txt
Code: [Select]
game                     "|gameinfo_path|../hl2" this should work

Extra App ID set to 240, but no SteamAppID.
I get this when trying your fix on CSS SCI FI. Here's my gameinfo
Code: [Select]
"GameInfo"
{
game "CSS SCI FI 3: HARDWIRED"
title "HARDWIRED"
title2 "css sci fi 3"
type "singleplayer_only"
icon "resource/scifi"
developer "Fitzroy_Doll"
developer_url "http://www.amphibian.myzen.co.uk/css_sci_fi/"
manual "c:\program files (x86)\steam\Steamapps\SourceMods\CSS SCI FI\CSS SCI FI_Readme.pdf"
FileSystem
{
SteamAppId 220 // This will mount all the GCFs we need (240=CS:S, 220=HL2).
ToolsAppId 211 // Tools will load this (ie: source SDK caches) to get things like materials\debug, materials\editor, etc.

                SearchPaths
{
Game |gameinfo_path|.
game "|gameinfo_path|..\SDKBase"
game "|gameinfo_path|..\..\..\common\Half-Life 2\hl2"

game "|gameinfo_path|..\..\..\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike"
Game "|gameinfo_path|..\CSSBase" }

I had to change the folder name from "CSS SCI FI" to "CSSSCIFI" because it was the only way I could get it to launch. And on launch I get the error at the top of this post. I really would love to play some CSS SCI FI, any ideas?

type [ code] *and [/ code] to make a "CODE" block where *and is your code (without spaces OFC)
or use # icon while editing/posting on selected text to surround it with the CODE block

Remove addcontents.txt

Delete CONTENTS of gameinfo.txt, not the file itself.

Also If you'll be missing "scene" files (gman does not talk, or citizens don't do anything)
Add this underneath First "game     |gameInfo_path|"
Code: [Select]
game                     "|gameinfo_path|../hl2"

Is there any way to run it without removing spaces from the folder name? Because when you edit the folder name it seems to fuck up all of the text ingame. I had to change the remove the folder name so the hl2 shortcut could actually run.
EDIT: Never mind fixed it by doing "CSS SCI FI" instead of CSS SCI FI
Anyway thanks!

I get "Unable to load surface prop file 'scripts/surfaceproperties.txt' (referenced by manifest file 'scripts/surfaceproperties_manifest.txt') whenever I try to start CSS SCI FI now. I feel I may not have copied the right files to my sourcemods folder but I'm not sure.

Re-install your Source SDK 2006 base or at least verify it.
surfaceproperties_manifest.txt is contained within .vpk files of SDK 2006

I just ran into a weird issue where the game completely broke.
Couldn't collect batteries or health.
Enemies died in one shot no matter what weapon I used or their health.
Some enemies couldn't be killed at all.
Nothing did damage to physics objects.
Pretty much everything stopped working.

I basically had to delete my mod folder from the STANDALONE directory and create a fresh copy of to fix it.

That actually sounds like an issue with core SMOD and not Crylife in general.

Holy shit. Sounds pretty horrible.

Any other info about this? I'd like to try to replicate this.
your custom mod or some other SMOD?
Did your steam was running while playing SMOD?

This doesn't have anything to do with Crylife. it's problem with basic SMOD.

Hello everyone. As I am new here it seems a good idea to to begin with paying "homage" to Pepsifan for this mod that I enjoyed very much (at least for couple of hours though). You see, I've got a problem with installing SMOD. It worked for a while but as I experienced some problems with CryLife I decided to reinstall SMOD Standalone. Curiously it crashed (vpk.exe stopped working) when it tried to unpack some files. I closed the popup and the main installer proceeded and finished the installation. But the mod itself does not work - as some of users mentioned - I can hear the music but cannot see the menu. I reinstalled both HL2 and SDK 2006 and validated their integrity via Steam (which as I read somewhere is  supposed to be the way to check if a game is fully updated) but with no positive results. And yes, I ran both games prior installing SMOD.

I apologise if it is some kind of a stupid mistake on my side but I am pretty much certain that I did everything Pepsifan required for installation. All in all, every advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers: Pneumandron
