Missing background
« on: April 06, 2014, 03:47:24 PM »
I recently installed SMOD, but whenever I try to start it, it crashes and gives me this message:

"Can't find background image materials/console/startup_loading.vtf"

Can anyone help?

go to that folder, if that file is really missing, then go and search it somewhere,
you could use my startup_loading.vtf in this pack http://bsnooch.com/forums/index.php?topic=1087.0

1. SMOD (piped) or SMOD standalone
2. If SMOD piped use SMOD standalone
3. Make sure you have HL2 AND Source SDK base 2006 installed and have run them at least once, the SMOD standalone installer should be placed into your "sourcemods" folder and then run it.
4. If everything goes well you should have a working SMOD shortcut on your desktop and will run flawlessly.

Please note that SMOD Standalone (http://bsnooch.com/forums/index.php?topic=1360.0) is still 0.30 and might have some issues.

I'm glad that someone uses it :)
yes, SMOD Stdl has everything configured within installation, you may need to remove/comment out contents of scripts/Addcontents.txt to avoid "Extra AppID set to ###, but no SteamAppID"
