May I ask how I could compile an 2007-later map for 2006 or SMOD?

You have to decompile the map (with VMEX for example) and have to compile it using the EP1 Hammer.

Decompiling often leads to lightning bugs in some parts of the map, or materials might not carry over their exact values.
