Orange Box Graphics Ported to SMOD
« on: February 15, 2011, 09:40:50 AM »
The May 26th update last year updated HL2 to use the Orange Box graphic updates. But SMOD does not load them as they are called from a different GCF file than what SMOD refers to, and some of the texture versions are outside what the older engine build of SMOD supports. So i decided to convert what i could over to SMOD to make it look a bit more up-to-date.

This should not be illegal since you have most if not all of these files with HL2 now. I just made them compatible with SMOD.

List of changes:

-Added Enviroment Detail Overlays.
-Added Episodic Alyx Mesh/Textures.
-Added Episodic Vortigaunt Mesh/Textures.
-Added Episodic Combine Rifle Ammo Mesh/Textures.
-Added Episodic Antlion Guard Mesh/Textures.
-Added Hi-Res Goo Particle Texture.
-Added 9mm Pistol Reload Sound.
-Phong Shading Added To:
Antlion
Barnicle
Breen (Body Texture Only)
Combine Gunship
Combine Helicopter
Combine Mine
Combine Soldier/Elite/Prison Guard
Combine Strider
Dog
Eli
Friendly Combine
Gman
Headcrab (All Types)
Kleiner
Stalker
Zombie/Fast/Poison
V_Bugbait
V_Crossbow
V_Crowbar
V_Grenade
V_Hand (Includes Fix for SMOD's Punch Weapon)
V_IRifle
V_Physcannon
V_RocketLauncher
V_Pistol
V_Shotgun
V_SMG1

Plus a few other things i didn't mention.

Also included are Episodic sounds for the Sniper and Alyx Gun and a few sounds for the Combine Soldiers. They are optional since the weapon sounds modify scripts.

SMOD 40a.

Why would it not work for Redux?

he probably doesn't want to have to deal with people who mess up their game by dumping all those files in there.

I'm also guessing that this pack will override some skins in redux.

How are you capable of seeing the texture on the inside of the hands?

I need this for a transparent texture I made. Could somebody show me what VMT part does this?

I checked the default and the EP2 hands and saw this "$nocull". Does this mean anything?

"vertexlitgeneric"
{
   // Original shader: VertexLitTexture
   "$basetexture" "models/Weapons/V_hand/v_hand_sheet"
   "$bumpmap" "models/Weapons/V_hand/v_hand_sheet_normal"
   //"$envmap" "env_cubemap"
   //"$envmaptint" "[ .64 .64 .64 ]"
   //"$normalmapalphaenvmapmask" 1
   "$nocull" "1"

// -- From here down is new stuff which will only be applied if $phong is set to 1 --
   "$phong" "1"
   "$phongexponent" "25"
   "$phongboost"   "1"
   "$phongfresnelranges"   "[.2 0.4 1]"

}
